Will my forum on _________ platform transfer okay?

Our in-house migration specialists are able to transfer your data from almost any forum platform. We will work with you to ensure the best possible transition to our platform.

I currently host my forum, if I switch to your cloud-hosted platform will I still own my data?

No matter where you come from, your data is still yours and you have the ability to generate a full database export whenever you like. You will always have full ownership of your data.

What content transfers over?

The specific set of data that transfers to Forums.net will depend on the platform you're coming from. In most cases, we can transfer everything. For the rare cases of forums coming from platforms with unorthodox structures, we transfer as much as we are able, and work with you to ensure that you are satisfied.

Do my users have to reset their passwords?

This will depend on the platform you are coming from. For most open source platforms, we are able to transition your users seamlessly, so they will experience no interruptions or required password changes, though this may come at an additional cost. In many cases we recommend that a transitioning forum requires a password reset for security purposes.

How are my attachments/files/custom avatars handled?

Our team is able to transfer most locally-hosted attachment-related features from most forum platforms. Our complimentary consultation will help determine specifically what files and images will be available to your new forum.

How long does the transfer process take?

Transfers for small and medium sized forums can be done very quickly. If your forum is of significant size and activity our complimentary consultation will help determine the potential timeline of the transfer. Please contact us for further inquiries

How much does transferring to Forums.net cost?

Data Migration is only available to Forums.net customers who have selected, or are planning to select, a VIP plan. In addition, there is a Data Migration fee that will vary based on the structure of your database. We will gladly work with you to determine your individual needs and the final cost. Will I have a chance to review my transferred content before it goes live?

Yes, once we have completed your data migration we will contact you and allow you up to 72 hours to review your forums content privately. You must inform Forums.net of any issues that you would like addressed at this time. After this 72 hour period has elapsed, your migration will be considered complete. Further assistance may incur a new charge.

Can I migrate my current community to an Essentials or Complete Forums.net subscription?

Data Migration is only available for VIP subscription plans. As a result, the Essentials and Complete pricing tiers are ineligible for Data Migration.
